The role of the Trust Data Protection Officer (DPO):

Provide advice and support around all data protection matters, for example data breaches, subject access requests (SARs), freedom of information requests (FOIs) and data protection impact assessments (DPIAs)
Monitor compliance with data protection legislation including GDPR, including providing advice and support for addressing issues that arise from audits
Help to raise awareness of data protection matters with staff
Be the school’s / Trust’s liaison with the ICO in the event of a notifiable breach, or with a data subject who makes a complaint about how their data is handled

The role of the School Data Leads:

Log data protection incidents such as data breaches on the GDPRiS platform and help ensure the advice from the DPO is implemented
Log SARs and FOIs on the GDPRiS platform and help ensure these are responded to within deadlines and in line with the advice from the DPO
Ensure staff attend data protection training as required by the Trust and DPO
Communicate with the DPO and Trust data lead to ensure information is shared and policies & systems are implemented
Contribute to audits
